Home Video Review-Holy Hitchcock

Alfred Hitchcock is one of my favorite filmmakers. The guy directed films for over 50 years and became one of the most influential filmmakers!2024 was the 125th anniversary of the legendary filmmakers' birth and there was a lot of home video releases that celebrated. I'll do my best to sort them out for you!

I just received (by luck & chance) Studio Canal's amazing new box set "Hitchcock: The Beginning"! 10 of Hitchcock's early gems from 1927-1932! Now Kino Lorber released several of these in the US within the past five years, but there's at least ONE film in this set that have never seen the light of day on home video (as far as I know anyhow). A couple of these films just received a 2024 remaster! This is for the die-hard fans of Alfred Hitchcock fans only (like me) as some may not enjoy these films as much as his later masterpieces. If you are a fan, this is a limited edition so get on it ASAP!

Another lavish set was released in 2024: "Alfred Hitchcock: The Iconic Film Collection"! Six films are included! "Rear Window", "To Catch A Thief", "Vertigo", "North By Northwest", "Psycho" & "The Birds"! The 4K discs are stored in an over-sized coffee book table style format with amazing, eye-popping artwork. There's rare production photos, storyboards, over 15 hours of special features and more! If I haven't had already bought these films multiple times (I think I have at least four copies of "Vertigo"), then this would be an immediate buy! If you have a 4K player and DO NOT already have these masterpieces, then hurry and purchase before they're gone!

Imprint Films in Australia announced in October "The Hitchcock 9" was coming to home video in either Blu-Ray OR 4K (or both). I haven't heard anything since then but apparently it will include all nine full length Hitchcock films from the silent era (1925-1929). All films were restored last year and I'm sure if the rights haven't fallen through that we will know of a release soon!

I'm sure the releases will never stop because the Hitchcock influence and fanbase will continue to grow. Alfred Hitchcock cinema only gets finer with age!
